Certification is easier when the trail is fresh. But that doesn’t mean older results can’t be certified — it means they require more work to certify properly.

When a show result, competition title, or certification is submitted more than five weeks after the event, the auditing process becomes more complex:

· Event records may need to be retrieved from historical archives rather than active databases
· The issuing body’s records from that period require deeper cross-referencing
· Supporting documentation must be gathered and verified independently
· The certification chain requires more steps to establish — and more time to complete

This is why the fee is higher for older results — not because the certification is less thorough, but because more effort is required to reach the same standard of proof.

What the extended certification covers:
· Full verification with the original awarding body — regardless of the date
· Cryptographic signature of the certified document
· Integration into the animal’s Digital Pedigree with accurate historical dating
· Permanent placement in the certified career timeline — visible on the public profile

When to use extended certification:
→ When activating a Digital Pedigree for a dog or cat with an established career — and certifying the entire history at once
→ When a title was earned but not submitted at the time
→ When reconstructing a complete career record for a breeding animal or sale preparation

The higher cost reflects the depth of the auditing process, not a penalty for timing. Every certified result — recent or historical — carries the same cryptographic proof and legal weight.
